《聽(tīng)力入門(mén)2000》共分為四冊(cè)，供大專(zhuān)院校英語(yǔ)專(zhuān)業(yè)聽(tīng)力課使用，也可供具有較高水平的其他專(zhuān)業(yè)的研究生、本科生和科技人員等廣大英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)者選用。
《聽(tīng)力入門(mén)2000》是《聽(tīng)力入門(mén)》的延伸。它仍遵循內(nèi)容與聽(tīng)力技巧并重的原則，注重選材料的語(yǔ)言真實(shí)度和典型性，把重點(diǎn)始終放在發(fā)展學(xué)生的聽(tīng)力理解能力和思維能力等方面。
《聽(tīng)力入門(mén)2000》更是《聽(tīng)力入門(mén)》的超越。它采用全新的聽(tīng)力素材，且更注意四冊(cè)教材中主題布局的整體性。
本書(shū)為第三冊(cè)，共十二個(gè)單元。每個(gè)單元的篇章結(jié)構(gòu)和意圖與前兩冊(cè)基本一致。但內(nèi)容的取材原則體現(xiàn)不同的重點(diǎn)：第一冊(cè)注重勾畫(huà)當(dāng)代社會(huì)中的一些宏觀變化和時(shí)代特征，可以說(shuō)偏重于廣視角、大題材；第二冊(cè)的內(nèi)容則主要圍繞學(xué)生自身在專(zhuān)業(yè)、情操與體魄等方面的健康成長(zhǎng)而展開(kāi)，可以說(shuō)聚焦點(diǎn)是學(xué)生主體，話題比較接近生活實(shí)際，容易引起共鳴，激發(fā)思考；而第三冊(cè)又將學(xué)生的注意力引向世界，編入了有關(guān)國(guó)際政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)、科技和交通等諸多領(lǐng)域的要聞報(bào)道和成果介紹，幫助學(xué)生增進(jìn)各種知識(shí)，擴(kuò)展視野。
