1. fore-：before 前、預(yù)先

forecast v. & n. 預(yù)測(cè);預(yù)示

E.g. Such events may forecast an outbreak of war.

這些事件可能預(yù)示著戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)的爆發(fā)。

foretell v. 預(yù)言;預(yù)告

E.g. We can't foretell how the world will end.

我們不能預(yù)言世界將如何終結(jié)。

foreground n. 前景

E.g. The figure in the foreground is the artist's mother.

圖畫(huà)前景中的人是畫(huà)家的母親。

foresee vt. 預(yù)見(jiàn);預(yù)知

E.g. It is difficult to foresee the consequences that may arise from this action.

預(yù)見(jiàn)這一行動(dòng)可能產(chǎn)生的后果是困難的。

2. pre-：before 之前

prehistory n. 史前

E.g. In the long period , the researches of prehistory are abundant.

在漫長(zhǎng)的時(shí)間長(zhǎng)河中，對(duì)于史前文明的研究可謂浩瀚如星海。

prerequisite n. 先決條件;

E.g. Good self-esteem is a prerequisite for a happy life.

良好的自尊心是幸福生活的先決條件。

prelude n. 序言前奏曲;序幕

E.g. The rural reform has opened the prelude of China's reform and opening-up.

農(nóng)村改革揭開(kāi)了中國(guó)改革開(kāi)放的序幕。

3.pro-：預(yù)先的

prologue n. 序言，序幕;

E.g. The prologue of the book is a famous writer.

這本書(shū)的序言是由一個(gè)著名作家寫(xiě)的。

prophet n. 先知，預(yù)言家

E.g. He holds the belief that he is a latter-day prophet.

他深信自己是當(dāng)代先知。

4.post-：after 之后

postwar n. 戰(zhàn)后

E.g. During the postwar years in Germany, many honors were heaped upon Einstein.

在戰(zhàn)后的歲月里，愛(ài)因斯坦在德國(guó)得到了種種榮譽(yù)。

postgraduate n.研究生

E.g. She has satisfied the entrance requirements for a postgraduate.

5. retro-：back往后的

retrograde adj. 倒退的

E.g. This is, as far as we're concerned, a real retrograde step for human rights.

對(duì)我們而言，這是在人權(quán)問(wèn)題上真正倒退的一步。

retrospect v. & n. 回顧

E.g. It was, in retrospect, the happiest day of her life.
